USA Hockey, Inc., is the National Governing Body for the sport of ice hockey in the United States. Its mission is to promote the growth of hockey in America and provide the best possible experience for all participants by encouraging, developing, advancing and administiering the sport. USA Hockey’s primary emphasis is on the support and development of grassroots hockey programs. In January 2009, the organization launched the American Development Model, which, for the first time ever, provides associations nationwide with a blueprint for optimal athlete development. While youth hockey is a main focus, USA Hockey also has vibrant junior and adult hockey programs that provide opportunities for players of all ability levels. The organization also supports a growing disabled hockey program and maintains an inline hockey program to provide structure and support for its growth across the nation.

The Atlantic Amateur Hockey Association is the governing body of the Atlantic District of USAH.
The purposes of this association are:
A. To develop and encourage sportsmanship between all players for the betterment of their physical and social well being.
B. To encourage and improve the standard of ice hockey in the states of New Jersey, Eastern Pennsylvania, and Delaware.
C. To associate and affiliate with other ice hockey associations.
D. To conduct ice hockey tournaments and to select representatives for other tournaments, as sanctioned by USA Hockey or its appointees.
E. To select qualified players for USA Hockey Development camps.
F. To do any and all acts desirable in the furtherance of the foregoing purposes.

The purpose of the DVHL is to promote, govern and improve organized hockey in the Delaware Valley area by authority of USA Hockey, Inc.: to foster among its members, supporters and teams a general cooperative spirit; to maintain and increase interest in the game of hockey; to have and exercise a general care, supervision and direction over the playing interest of its teams and players.
